CWSS to Natham & 2 Town Panchayats and 1276 Rural Habitations with Bulk Provision to 2 Town Panchayats and 354 Rural Habitations in Dindigul District and Bulk Provision to 135 Habitations in Trichy District with River Cauvery as the Source.

The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has announced in the floor of the Legislative Assembly on 10.04.2013 under Rule 110 of Legislative Assembly, that CWSS to 1342 habitations in Dindigul District with river water at the prorata supply of 55 LPCD will be implemented.

Accordingly, the Government in G.O. (Ms). No.166, MA&WS (WS4) Department, dated 30.10.13 have accorded Administrative Sanction for Providing CWSS to Dindigul Municipality, 3 Town Panchayats and 1276 habitations in 11 Unions in Dindigul District with River Cauvery as source at a cost of Rs. 636.00 crore to install and Rs.18.10 crore to maintain annually.

Subsequently a separate DPR for providing a dedicated Water Supply Scheme to Dindigul Municipality with Kamarajar dam as source was prepared by the CMA/Chennai and hence Dindigul Municipality was excluded from the scope of the above CWSS. The earmarked quantity of Dindigul Municipality is proposed to be Utilised to CWSS to 354 habitations in Palani & Thoppampatty Unions, Keeranur and Neikkarapatty Town Panchayats in Dindigul District and CWSS to 135 habitations in Vaiyampatty and Marungapuri unions in Trichy District which was announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister during the Collectors conference 2013-14. Accordingly the DPR was modified.

Accordingly Natham CWSS Project with River Cauvery as source has been revised to provide safe and potable drinking water to the people of Natham, Nilakottai, Ammayanaickanur Town Panchayats and 1276 rural habitations in 11 unions with bulk provision to Gandhigram rural university Keeranur, Neikkarappatty Town Panchayats and 354 rural habitations in Palani and Thoppampatty unions of Dindigul district and bulk provision to 135 habitations in Vaiyampatty and Marungapuri unions in Trichy district.

The revised Administrative Sanction was accorded vide G.O. (Ms). No.25, MA&WS (WS4) Department, dated 11.02.2015 for Rs.636.00 Crore to install and Rs. 18.10 Crore to maintain annually.

Fund tie up for this project had been made with Rs. 237.64 Crore under NRDWP as a grant from Govt. of India , Rs. 319.14 Crore under NABARD loan, Rs.56.33 grant from Govt.of Tamil Nadu and Rs. 19.01 Crore as local body share and Rs.3.88 Crore under deposit amount .

It is proposed to tap 48.10 MLD of sub surface water, from 3 Nos. of Collector Wells in River Cauvery in Thirukkampuliyur near Krishnarayapuram in Karur District. Water from these Wells will be collected in a Collection Sumps of capacities 21.80 LL & 5.00 LL located at Thirukkampuliyur. The water thus collected in the Common Sumps at Manavasi will be supplied to all beneficiaries through a net work of six booster/intermediate sumps, 1700 Km (219+1481) of Transmission Main & Feeder Mains to Urban and Rural areas, 153 Nos of Panchayat & Intermediate Sumps, new 117 Nos. of Service reservoirs in Urban and rural areas with new Distribution system for a length of 76.80 Km & through existing/new Service Reservoirs and Distribution System.

The Base year (2014) the Intermediate year(2029), Ultimate (2044) year population of the beneficiaries are 8.56 lakh, 9.76 lakh, 11.27 lakh respectively. The present, Intermediate and Ultimate requirement works out to 29.15 MLD, 38.32 MLD and 48.10 MLD respectively.

The work order was issued on 30.03.2015 and so far 90% of works have been completed and the expenditure incurred is Rs.393.44 Crore (62%)  . The scheme is under trial run from 06.12.2017 and Inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu on 31.12.2017.
