This scheme for Providing CWSS to 8 Town Panchayats and 2297 Rural Habitations in 11 Unions with Bulk provision to 3 Municipalities in Sivagangai District has been announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in the floor of State Assembly under 110 rule. In the G.O. Ms NO.63/ MA&WS Dept / dated 9.5.2013, instructed to take up the investigation works.

The Scheme has been administratively sanctioned for Rs.1752.73 crore vide G.O.(Ms) No.97/ MAWS (WS1)/dated.10.09.2020 under the funding pattern of NABARD NIDA fund of Rs.1537.59 Crore and State Govt contribution of Rs.Rs.215.14 Crore.

The Scheme has been designed to serve a total base year population of 11.39 Lakh (2021) with 49.83 MLD, Intermediate population of 13.56 Lakh(2036) with 69.52 MLD and ultimate population of 16.11 Lakh (2051) with 66.82 MLD.

It is proposed to tap the required quantity of 69.52 MLD of water from River Cauvery from the 5 numbers of Collector wells proposed near Thanneerpalli. Maruthur(2nos), Pettaivaithalai and Kumarapalayam in Kulithalai Taluk of Karur district. The water from the Collector wells will be pumped to Common Sump of capacity 43.85 LL at Maruthur.The water will be conveyed to Booster station of capacity 43.85 LL at Pathiripatti through pumping main of 1118x 8.8 mm MS pipe of 35.13 KM. From Pathiriatti Booster, the water will be pumped to the ridge point at Thirunellipatti and conveyed through pumping main of 1219 mm x 11mm MS pipe and 1219 mm x 10mm MS pipe of 35.70 KM from where the water will be gravitated to the receiving sump of capacity 146.00LL at Thenammalpatti through 1219 mm x 10 mm MS pipe and 1118 mm x 8.8 mm MS pipe of 46.32 km.

From Thenammalpatti receiving Sump water is proposed to be conveyed to 385 proposed sumps and 768 Nos of proposed Service reservoirs through a pumping main and Feeder main length of 4638.70 KM. Water will supplied from the proposed and existing Service Reservoir through the Distribution network of 269.30 Km to 3 Municipality , 8 Town Panchayats and 2452 rural habitations

For speedy implementation the works have been splitted into 4 Packages and work orders has been issued on 01.02.2021 and works has been commenced on 15.02.2021.

Preliminary work has been started and expenditure incurred so for is Rs. 50.00 Cr (3%).The scheme is targeted for completion by 08 /2023.

On completion of the scheme the population benefitted will be 16.11 lakh with the daily supply of 86.42 MLD.
