Under Ground Sewerage Schemes

Implementation of Projects Under National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD), GOI.

TWAD Board has taken up pollution abatement scheme in Cauvery and Tamiraparani river reaches and revival of Kodaikanal Lake in Tamilnadu under NRCD/GOI assistance. The schemes are implemented under NRAP, NRCP and NLCP programme.

The Under Ground Sewerage Schemes in Tirunelveli, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Trichy, Karur and Inam Karur have been taken up at a cost of Rs.359.70 Crores under this programme. The implementation of these projects is done on cost sharing basis from the funds provided by various funding agencies namely GOI, GOTN, ULB and Public Contribution. The funds released as on 31-12-2010 by GOI, GoTN & ULB/PC share are Rs.137.95 Crores, Rs. 62.11 Crores and Rs.75.66 Crores respectively. The total fund received from all sources, as on 31-12-2010 is Rs.275.72 Crores. The total expenditure incurred up to 31-12-2010 is Rs.308.39 Crores. UGSS to all the Five Towns namely Tirunelveli, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthruai, Trichy and Karur & Inam Karur towns have been completed, commissioned and put into beneficiaries use.
